Localised Resin Patch Repairs
Not every defect needs a full lining job or an excavation. When a drain has a single localised crack, fracture, or hole, a resin patch repair can fix that exact spot from within the pipe, without disturbing the rest of the run.
ICE Drainage carries out resin patch repairs for homeowners, businesses, and facilities teams across the UK. It's a fast, no-dig way to fix a specific point of damage while leaving the surrounding pipe and surface untouched.
What is a resin patch repair?
A resin patch repair uses a resin-saturated patch, positioned precisely over the damaged section of pipe and inflated against the pipe wall until it cures in place. It bonds to the host pipe to seal the defect and restore structural strength at that exact point, without lining or relining the whole length of the drain.
Because it's targeted at a specific spot rather than the full run, it's usually quicker and less expensive than a full lining repair.
When a resin patch is the right fix
A resin patch repair is a good option when:
- CCTV has identified a single, localised crack, fracture, or hole rather than damage spread along the pipe
- The rest of the pipe run is in reasonable structural condition
- Excavation isn't practical or would cause more disruption than necessary
- A quick, no-dig fix is preferred over a full lining job for a minor, isolated defect
If the damage is more extensive, spread across multiple points, or the pipe itself is in poor overall condition, a full lining repair or replacement is usually the better long-term option, and we'll tell you honestly if that's the case.
Our resin patch repair process
1) Confirming the defect
We use CCTV to pinpoint the exact location and extent of the damage, and to check the condition of the pipe on either side of it.
2) Preparing the pipe
We clean the affected section to give the patch a sound surface to bond to.
3) Positioning and curing the patch
We position the resin patch precisely over the defect and cure it in place, so it bonds securely to the pipe wall.
4) Verifying the repair
We confirm the patch has bonded correctly and the pipe is flowing as it should before finishing up.
A no-dig option worth considering
Resin patch repairs sit alongside our other no-dig repair methods, such as joint sealing, as a way to fix a specific problem without excavation. If a survey has flagged a localised defect, this is often one of the fastest and least disruptive ways to put it right.
